Course Structure
The main emphasis on the courses is to encourage you to sketch the landscape from real life and then interpret your sketches into finished paintings. The first part of the course is therefore spent outside, weather permitting, gathering subjects. We will choose sketching positions that are easy to access and most will be close to the vehicles, however, if some people want to walk a little way, one of us will always be on hand to guide you.The subjects will be varied so that there shouldl be something to excite you.
The latter part of the course will be spent in the hotel/studio where David will demonstrate some watercolour techniques and then you will begin to work up your sketches into paintings with advice and suggestions from David and Jenny.
The day normally begins at 9.30 after breakfast and tuition finishes at about 5.30 to 6.00 p.m. although you are welcome to paint in the evening. One evening there will be a slide presentation showing a number of sketches and paintings and David will discuss the techniques used.
The course finishes with an appraisal of the work done during the course on the last afternoon.
The number of students on the couse is normally not more than 16.
