Tip of the Month February 09 |

I was keen to render the texture of rust on the side of the stove. Firstly I applied a mix of light red with a touch of French Ultramarine to the side of the stove, and while this was wet. I dropped in a little cadmium orange in the centre. Once dry, I stippled in the pock-marks using a slightly stronger version of the initial wash. The background is underplayed by making it quite dark and merely suggesting rough stonework.
