Trelerw, Watercolour by David Bellamy
This monochrome painting was achieved with just burnt umber, a colour which has a wide range of tones, thus making it suitable for a painting. It was painted in the normal way, starting with the lightest tones, then gradually working in the darker ones, leaving the very darkest until the end. Note how important the white areas are - this is simply where the white paper has been left untouched.
