The summer landscape can present quite a challenge to the watercolour painter. How do you deal with all that overwhelming 'green-ness'? One way is to look for other colours in the landscape to substitute for the green, such as a yellow stubble field, a ploughed field or a wild flower meadow. Emphasise the warm reds that you find at the base of hedgerows and above all do not slavishly copy all the different greens in front of you. Use your imagination and have fun with your colour palette.
